This Swing Bridge commonly goes unnoticed, carrying Canadian National Tracks across the Fox River Navigation Channel.
Built in 1905, the bridge is a unique example of a through girder swing bridge. The structure rests on concrete substructures.
In addition, to make sure the channel is of adequate length, the bridge has the south end significantly longer than the other, making sure the channel is unobstructed. This technique is known as bobtail, rare for swing spans.
Because of this, photos can be very hard to get. The bridge carries the tracks from an island to a mainland.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in fair condition, with some minor deterioration. An unidentified plaque was once on the bridge.
The author has ranked this bridge as being moderately significant, due to the uncommon design.
